Uptown! Entertainment Alliance will present a free jazz concert at 6:30PM on Friday September 14, 2012, featuring popular vocalist Sara Michaels and her band. The concert will be on the steps of the historic Chester County Courthouse at the corner of High and Market Streets in West Chester.
Sara has sung blues, musical theater and contemporary Christian music, but has now focused her passion on jazz. Although trained in illustration, with a degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, music has always been part of her life.
According to Sara, “My passion is in telling stories in art and music.”
When Sara sings the captivating stories of the songs from the 1930s and 40s, you can easily hear her influences, such as the great Peggy Lee, Eartha Kitt, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day and Dinah Washington.
Sara’s performance kicks off a series of free performances from the Uptown! Entertainment Alliance, under the sponsorship of major local companies and organizations. Bancroft Construction of West Chester sponsors this one.
Uptown! is seeking a site for a permanent theater in the heart of the Borough of West Chester, but until we realize that dream, our group will continue to bring performances to the community.
Please join us Friday, September 14, for an evening of romance with, as Sara says, “class and a bit of sass.” And when you do, be sure to ask about what Uptown! is doing and how you can help make our dream come true.
